Yahya bin Abu Ishaq narrates: A man asked Sulaiman bin Yasar about a woman who intends to free a slave on behalf of her mother. Sulaiman replied: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated this hadith to me: A man asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), he said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! When my father accepted Islam, he was old and advanced in age. If I tie him to the riding animal, I fear he will die, and if I do not tie him, he will not be able to sit on it. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf? The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: What do you think, if your father had a debt and you paid it off on his behalf, would it be fulfilled? He replied: Yes. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Then perform Hajj on behalf of your father. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) This narration is evidence for the permissibility of analogy (qiyas).
