Muhammad bin Abdullah narrates: He heard Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) and Dahhak bin Qais in the year when Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Abu Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) performed Hajj. These two personalities were discussing performing Hajj Tamattu’ by combining Umrah with Hajj. Dahhak said: This act can be done by a person who is unaware of Allah’s command. So Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O my nephew, you have said a very wrong thing. Dahhak said: Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) used to prohibit this. So Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did this, and we did it along with him.
