أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَعْشَرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : خَرَجْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُهِلِّينَ بِالْحَجِّ ، فَقَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ ، فَطُفْنَا بِالْبَيْتِ ، وَبَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فِينَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مِنْكُمْ سَاقَ هَدْيًا فَلْيَحْلِلْ وَلْيَجْعَلْهَا عَمْرَةً " ، فَقُلْنَا : حِلٌّ مِنْ ذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ ، قَالَ : " الْحِلُّ كُلُّهُ " ، فَوَاقَعْنَا النِّسَاءَ ، وَلَبِسْنَا ، وَتَطَيَّبْنَا بِالطِّيبِ ، فَقَالَ أُنَاسٌ : مَا هَذَا الأَمْرُ ، نَأْتِي عَرَفَةَ ، وَأُيُورُنَا تَقْطُرُ مَنِيًّا ؟ ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَامَ فِينَا كَالْمُغْضَبِ ، فَقَالَ : " وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمْ أَنِّي أَتْقَاكُمْ ، وَلَوْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّكُمْ تَقُولُونَ هَذَا مَا سُقْتُ الْهَدْيَ ، فَاسْمَحُوا بِمَا تُؤْمَرُونَ بِهِ " ، فَقَامَ سُرَاقَةُ بْنُ مَالِكِ بْنِ جُعْشُمٍ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، عُمْرَتُنَا هَذِهِ الَّتِي أَمَرْتَنَا بِهَا أَلِعَامِنَا هَذَا أَمْ لِلأَبَدِ ؟ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " بَلْ لِلأَبَدِ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We set out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting the Talbiyah for Hajj, and we reached Makkah. We performed the Tawaf of the House of Allah, and the Sa’i between Safa and Marwah. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood among us and said: Whoever among you does not have a sacrificial animal with him should come out of Ihram and make it an ‘Umrah. We said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! To what extent should we end our Ihram? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Completely. (The narrator says) We had relations with our wives, wore stitched clothes, and applied perfume. Some people said: Now it will be that when we go towards ‘Arafah, drops of semen will be dripping from our private parts. This news reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he stood among us as if he was angry. He said: By Allah! You know that I am the most pious among you, and I have come to know that you have said this. If I had not brought the sacrificial animal with me (I too would have come out of Ihram). You should follow whatever you are commanded. Sayyiduna Suraqah bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Is this command regarding ‘Umrah specific to this year or forever? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Rather, it is forever.
