أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَبَلَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَرْوَانَ الْعُقَيْلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ هُوَ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا مِنْ أَيَّامٍ أَفْضَلُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ أَيَّامِ عَشْرِ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ " ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، هُنَّ أَفْضَلُ أَمْ عِدَّتُهُنَّ جِهَادًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ؟ ، قَالَ : " هُنَّ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ عِدَّتِهِنَّ جِهَادًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، وَمَا مِنْ يوْمٍ أَفْضَلُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ يوْمِ عَرَفَةَ يَنْزِلُ اللَّهُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا فَيُبَاهِي بِأَهْلِ الأَرْضِ أَهْلَ السَّمَاءِ ، فَيَقُولُ : انْظُرُوا إِلَى عِبَادِي شُعْثًا غُبْرًا ضَاحِينَ جَاءُوا مِنْ كُلِّ فَجٍّ عَمِيقٍ يَرْجُونَ رَحْمَتِي ، وَلَمْ يَرَوْا عَذَابِي ، فَلَمْ يُرَ يَوْمٌ أَكْثَرُ عِتْقًا مِنَ النَّارِ مِنْ يوْمِ عَرَفَةَ " ، قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : هِشَامٌ هَذَا هُوَ هِشَامُ بْنُ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ ، وَالدَّسْتَوَاءُ قَرْيَةٌ مِنْ قُرَى الأَهْوَازِ ، وَإِنَّمَا سُمِّيَ الدَّسْتُوَائِيَّ لأَنَّهُ كَانَ يَبِيعُ الثِّيَابَ الَّتِي تُحْمَلُ مِنْهَا فَنُسِبَ إِلَيْهَا .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There are no days more virtuous in the sight of Allah than the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah." The narrator says: A man asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Are these days more virtuous or spending the same number of days in jihad in the way of Allah?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "These days are more virtuous than spending the same number of days in jihad in the way of Allah, and there is no day more virtuous in the sight of Allah than the Day of Arafah. On this day, Allah descends to the nearest heaven and boasts to the inhabitants of the heavens about the people of the earth and says: 'Look at My servants, they have come with disheveled hair and covered in dust, they have come from distant places, hoping for My mercy. They have not seen My punishment.' (The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:) There is no day in which more people are freed from Hell than on the Day of Arafah." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, said:) This narrator named Hisham is Hisham bin Abu Abdullah Dastawai. Dastawa is a town in Ahwaz. He was called Dastawai because he used to bring and sell clothes from Dastawa, so he was attributed to that city.
