Hadith 3818

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ زُهَيْرٍ بِتُسْتَرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ الْقَطَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمُ بْنُ حَيَّانٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مِينَاءٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ ، يَقُولُ : وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ حِينَ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَهْدِمَ الْكَعْبَةَ وَيَبْنِيَهَا ، حَدَّثَتْنِي عَائِشَةُ خَالَتِي ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَهَا : " يَا عَائِشَةُ لَوْلا أَنَّ قَوْمَكِ حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِشِرْكٍ ، لَهَدَمْتُ الْكَعْبَةَ ، ثُمَّ زِدْتُ فِيهَا سِتَّةَ أَذْرُعٍ مِنَ الْحِجْرِ ، فَإِنَّ قُرَيْشًا اقْتَصَرَتْ بِهَا حِينَ بَنَتِ الْبَيْتَ ، وَجَعَلَتُ لَهَا بَابَيْنِ شَرْقِيًّا ، وَبَابًا غَرْبِيًّا ، وَأَلْزَقَتُهَا بِالأَرْضِ " .
Saeed bin Mina narrates: I heard Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with them both) saying this from the pulpit: This was at the time when he had the intention to demolish the Ka'bah and reconstruct it. He said: Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), who is my maternal aunt, my aunt told me this: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: O Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her)! If your people were not so close to the time of ignorance, I would have demolished the Ka'bah and added six handspans of Hatim into it, because the Quraysh had left out this part when they built it, and I would have made two doors for it, one eastern door and one western door, and I would have placed its doors level with the ground.
