أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَخْبَرَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " أَلَمْ تَرَيْ أَنَّ قَوْمَكِ حِينَ بَنَوَا الْكَعْبَةَ ، اقْتَصَرُوا عَلَى قَوَاعِدِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ " ، قَالَتْ : فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَفَلا تَرُدُّهَا عَلَى قَوَاعِدِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ؟ ، قَالَ : " لَوْلا حِدْثَانُ قَوْمِكِ بِالْكُفْرِ " ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ : لَئِنْ كَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ سَمِعْتُ هَذَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مَا أَرَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَرَكَ اسْتِلامِ الرُّكْنَيْنِ اللَّذَيْنِ يَلِيَانِ الْحِجْرَ ، إِلا أَنَّ الْبَيْتَ لَمْ يَتِمَّ عَلَى قَوَاعِدِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : قَوْلُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ : لَئِنْ كَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ سَمِعَتْ هَذَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَفْظَةً ، ظَاهِرُهَا التَّوَقُّفُ عَنْ صِحَّتِهَا مُرَادُهَا ابْتِدَاءَ إِخْبَارٍ عَنْ شَيْءٍ يَأْتِي بِتَيَقُّنِ شَيْءٍ مَاضٍ .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Have you not observed that when your people rebuilt the Ka'bah, they reduced it from the foundations of Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him)? Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), then why do you not return it to the foundations of Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him)? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If your people were not so close to the time of disbelief (I would have done so). The narrator states: Upon this, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: If Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) heard this from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), then I think it is for this reason that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) abandoned the touching (Istilam) of the two corners towards Hatim, because the House of Allah was not completely built upon the foundations of Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him). (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The statement of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), "If Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) heard this from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)," apparently suggests from these words that he wanted to pause regarding this narration, although what is meant is that he is beginning to inform about something that had already certainly occurred before.
