Hammad bin Zaid narrates: I was sitting with Imam Abu Hanifa (may Allah have mercy on him) in Makkah when a person came to him and said: I wore socks during Ihram (the narrator is unsure if these are the exact words) or I wore trousers while I was in Ihram. This doubt is from the narrator named Ibrahim. So Imam Abu Hanifa (may Allah have mercy on him) said to him: You are required to offer a sacrifice (dam). Hammad bin Zaid says: I asked this person: Do you have shoes? Do you have an izar (waist cloth)? He replied: No, I do not. I said: O Abu Hanifa! This person says that he does not have those things. So Imam Abu Hanifa said: The ruling is the same whether he has them or not.
