Hadith 3713

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ الْبُخَارِيُّ بِبَغْدَادَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الشَّاعِرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَيُّوبَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ حِينَ رَكَضَ زَمْزَمَ بِعَقِبِهِ جَعَلَتْ أُمُّ إِسْمَاعِيلَ تَجْمَعُ الْبَطْحَاءَ " ، قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " رَحِمَ اللَّهُ هَاجَرَ ، لَوْ تَرَكَتْهَا كَانَتْ عَيْنًا مَعِينًا " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates from Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When Jibreel struck the ground with his heel at the place of Zamzam, the mother of Sayyiduna Isma'il (peace be upon him) began to gather the soil (to make a barrier around the water). The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: May Allah have mercy on Hajar; if she had left it as it was, it would have become a flowing, great spring."
