Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) observed i'tikaf in the middle ten days of Ramadan; he wanted to seek out Laylat al-Qadr. When those days passed, the tent was taken down by his order. Then it became clear to him that Laylat al-Qadr would be in the last ten nights of Ramadan, so he came to the people. He said: "O people! Laylat al-Qadr was shown to me, and I came to inform you about it, but two men were arguing with each other and Satan was with them, so it was made to be forgotten by me. So seek it in the seventh night or seek it in the fifth night."
