Hadith 362

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ رَدِيفَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ إِلا مُؤْخِرَةُ الرَّحْلِ ، فقَالَ : " يَا مُعَاذُ " قُلْتُ : لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً ، ثُمَّ ، قَالَ : " يَا مُعَاذُ " ، قُلْتُ : لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ ، قَالَ : " هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ ؟ " قُلْتُ : اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ ، قَالَ : " أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا " ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً ، ثُمَّ ، قَالَ : " هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ ، إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ " ؟ قُلْتُ : اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ ، قَالَ : " فَإِنَّ حَقَّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ أَنْ لا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ " .
Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I was riding behind the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on a mount, and between me and him was only the rear part of the saddle. He said: O Mu'adh! I replied: O Messenger of Allah! I am present. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) continued for a while, then he said: O Mu'adh! I replied: O Messenger of Allah! I am present. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked: Do you know what is Allah's right upon His servants? I replied: Allah and His Messenger know best. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: That they worship Him and do not associate anything with Him. The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) continued for a while, then he said: Do you know what is the right of the servants upon Allah when they do that? I replied: Allah and His Messenger know best. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The right of the servants upon Allah is that when they do that, Allah will not punish them.
