أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ الْكَلاعِيُّ ، بِحِمْصَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ ، عَنِ الزُهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ جُلُوسٌ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، إِذْ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، هَلَكَتُ ، قَالَ : " وَمَا لَكَ ؟ " قَالَ : وَقَعْتُ عَلَى امْرَأَتِي وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " هَلْ تَجِدُ رَقَبَةً تُعْتِقُهَا ؟ " ، قَالَ : لا ، قَالَ : " فَهَلْ تَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ تَصُومَ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ ؟ " ، قَالَ : لا ، وَاللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " هَلْ تَجِدُ إِطْعَامَ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِينًا ؟ " ، قَالَ : لا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : فَسَكَتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : بَيْنَا نَحْنُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ ، أُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعَرَقٍ فِيهِ تَمْرٌ ، وَالْعَرَقُ : الْمِكْتَلُ ، فَقَالَ : " أَيْنَ السَّائِلُ آنِفًا ؟ خُذْ هَذَا التَّمْرَ فَتَصَدَّقْ بِهِ " ، فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ : عَلَى أَفْقَرَ مِنْ أَهْلِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَاللَّهِ مَا بَيْنَ لا بَتَيْهَا يُرِيدُ الْحَرَّتَيْنِ ، أَهْلُ بَيْتٍ أَفْقَرُ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِي ، قَالَ : فَضَحِكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى بَدَتْ أَنِيَابُهُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " أَطْعِمْهُ أَهْلَكَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once we were sitting with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). During this time, a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I have been ruined. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What has happened? He replied: I had intercourse with my wife while fasting. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Do you have a slave whom you can free? He replied: No. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Can you fast for two consecutive months? He replied: No, by Allah! O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! (I cannot fast.) The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Can you feed sixty poor people? He replied: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! No. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: While we were still sitting there, a basket was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in which there were dates. ‘Iraq’ means basket. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Where is the questioner? (Then he said to him:) Take this and give it as charity. The man said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Should I give charity to people poorer than my family? By Allah! There is no one in the whole city poorer than us. The narrator says: So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled until his molar teeth became visible. Then he said: Feed it to your family.
