باب الكفارة - ذكر البيان بأن المجامع في شهر رمضان إذا أراد الإطعام له أن يعطى ستين مسكينا لكل مسكين ربع الصاع وهو المدChapter on Expiation - Clarifying that one who has intercourse in Ramadan and chooses to feed must give each of sixty poor a quarter sa’ (a mudd)

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ سَلْمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الُوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنِ الزُهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، هَلَكَتُ ، قَالَ : " وَيْحَكَ ، وَمَا ذَاكَ ؟ " ، قَالَ : وَقَعَتُ عَلَى امْرَأَتِي فِي يَوْمٍ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ ، قَالَ : " أَعْتِقْ رَقَبَةً " ، قَالَ : مَا أَجِدُ ، قَالَ : " فَصُمْ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ " ، قَالَ : مَا أَسْتَطِيعُ ، قَالَ : " أَطْعِمْ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِينًا " ، قَالَ : مَا أَجِدُ ، قَالَ : فَأُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعَرَقٍ فِيهِ خَمْسَةَ عَشَرَ صَاعًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : " فَتَصَدَّقْ بِهِ " ، قَالَ : عَلَى أَفْقَرَ مِنْ أَهْلِي ! ، مَا بَيْنَ لابَتَيِ الْمَدِينَةِ أَحُوَجُ مِنْ أَهْلِي ، فَضَحِكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى بَدَتْ أَنِيَابُهُ ، وَقَالَ : " خُذْهُ وَاسْتَغْفَرِ اللَّهَ ، وَأَطْعِمْهُ أَهْلَكَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I have been ruined." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Woe to you, what has happened?" He replied, "I had intercourse with my wife during the day in the month of Ramadan." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Free a slave." He replied, "I do not have one." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Then fast for two consecutive months." He replied, "I am not able to do that." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Then feed sixty needy people." He replied, "I do not have the means." A basket containing fifteen saa’ of dates was presented to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Give this as charity." He replied, "Should I give it in charity to people poorer than my family? There is no one in the whole city more in need than my household." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled until his molar teeth became visible. He said, "Take it, seek forgiveness from Allah, and feed it to your family."
