Hadith 3498

أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الُوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، وَأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، أَنَّهُمَا حَدَّثَاهُ ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُدْرِكُهُ الْفَجْرُ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ مِنْ أَهْلِهِ ، ثُمَّ يَغْتَسِلُ وَيَصُومُ " .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) and Lady Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) have narrated this. Sometimes, due to having relations with his wife, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would be in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah) at the time of true dawn, and then he would observe the fast.
