Hadith 3478

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْجُنَيْدِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ مُضَرَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الأَشَجِّ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ ، مَوْلَى سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الأَكُوَعِ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الأَكُوَعِ ، قَالَ : لَمَا نَزَلَتْ : وَعَلَى الَّذِينَ يُطِيقُونَهُ فِدْيَةٌ طَعَامُ مِسْكِينٍ سورة البقرة آية 184 ، كَانَ مِنْ أَرَادَ مِنَّا أَنْ يُفْطِرَ أَفْطَرَ وَافْتَدَى ، حتى نزلت الآية التي بعدها فنسختها .
Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When this verse was revealed, “And those who are able to fast but with hardship, they have (the option to) pay a ransom, feeding a poor person,” then whoever among us did not wish to fast would leave the fast and give the ransom, until the verse that came after it was revealed and it abrogated it.
