باب ما جاء في الطاعات وثوابها - ذكر الإخبار عما يجب على المرء المسلم من ترك القنوط من رحمة الله جل وعلا مع ترك الاتكال على سعة رحمته وإن كثرت أعمالهChapter on Acts of Obedience and Their Rewards – A Muslim must not despair of Allah’s mercy nor rely solely on its vastness, even with many deeds.
Hadith 345

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنِ الْعَلاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَوْ يَعْلَمُ الْمُؤْمِنُ مَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنَ الْعُقُوبَةِ ، مَا طَمِعَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ أَحَدٌ ، وَلَوْ يَعْلَمُ الْكَافِرُ مَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنَ الرَّحْمَةِ ، مَا قَنَطَ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ أَحَدٌ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him: "If a believer were to know what kind of punishment exists with Allah Almighty, then no one would hope for Paradise; and if a disbeliever were to know how great Allah Almighty's mercy is, then no one would despair of Paradise."
