Hadith 3403

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحِيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، أَنَّ بَكْرَ بْنَ سَوَادَةَ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ يَزِيدَ الْمَعَافِرِيَّ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ ذُؤَيْبٍ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ، أَعْطَى ابْنَ السَّعْدِيِّ أَلْفَ دِينَارٍ ، فَأَبَى أَنْ يَقْبَلَهَا ، وَقَالَ : أَنَا عَنْهَا غَنِيٌّ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ : إِنِّي قَائِلٌ لَكَ مَا قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا سَاقَ اللَّهُ إِلَيْكَ رِزْقًا مِنْ غَيْرِ مَسْأَلَةٍ ، وَلا إِشْرَافِ نَفْسٍ ، فَخُذْهُ ، فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ أَعْطَاكَهُ " .
Qabeesah bin Dhuwaiyb (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) gave Ibn Sa'di two thousand dinars, but he refused to take them and said: I have no need for this. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: I am going to tell you the same thing that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me. "When Allah Almighty gives you some provision without you asking for it, without you being greedy for it, then take it, because Allah Almighty has granted it to you."
