Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: His wife complained to him about some need, so he set out with the intention of going to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so that he could ask the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for something for his family. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was present on the pulpit at that time and was saying: "O people! A time has come upon you that you should become independent of asking. Indeed, whoever tries to avoid (asking), Allah the Exalted keeps him safe; whoever seeks prosperity, Allah the Exalted grants him prosperity. By the One in Whose hand is the life of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), no servant has been given anything more spacious than patience. If you insist on asking, then whatever I have, I will give it to you."
