أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْبُخَارِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الرِّجَالِ ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ غَزِيَّةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " مَنْ سَأَلَ وَلَهُ أُوقِيَّةٌ فَهُوَ مُلْحِفٌ " ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : الِيَاقُوتَةُ نَاقَتِي خَيْرٌ مِنْ أُوقِيَّةٍ ، قَالَ : وَالأُوقِيَّةُ أَرْبَعُونَ دِرْهَمًا .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: “Whoever asks (from others) while he possesses one uqiyah (of silver), then he is a clinging beggar.” The narrator says: I thought, my she-camel Yaqutah is better than one uqiyah. The narrator states: One uqiyah is equal to forty dirhams.
