Husain bin Sa’d narrates: His grandfather, Sayyiduna Abu Lubabah (may Allah be pleased with him), regarding going after the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)—Allah Almighty accepted his repentance. Even before this, some such matters had occurred due to which the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was displeased with him. (So when his repentance was accepted), he submitted: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon you)! I want to leave the area where I committed the sin and I want to move towards you and live with you. I present all my wealth as charity in the court of Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him) and I disassociate myself from it. So the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Giving one third of it (in charity) is permissible for you (or will be sufficient for you).
