Hadith 3352

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، بِمَنْبِجَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ بِهَذَا الطَّوَّافِ الَّذِي يَطُوفُ عَلَى النَّاسِ تَرُدُّهُ اللُّقْمَةُ وَاللُّقْمَتَانِ ، وَالتَّمْرَةُ وَالتَّمْرَتَانِ " ، قَالُوا : فَمَنِ الْمِسْكِينُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " الَّذِي لا يَجِدُ غِنًى يُغْنِيهِ ، وَلا يُفْطَنُ لَهُ فَيُتَصَدَّقُ عَلَيْهِ ، وَلا يَقُومُ فَيَسْأَلُ النَّاسَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The poor person is not the one who goes around to people's houses, returning with a morsel or two, or with a date or two." The people asked: "O Messenger of Allah, then who is the poor person?" The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, replied: "He is the one who has nothing to fulfill his needs, and his condition is not known so that charity may be given to him, nor does he stand up to beg from people."
