Hadith 3351

أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدُ بْنُ مُسَرْهَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الُوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ الَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ التَّمْرَةُ وَالتَّمْرَتَانِ ، وَالأَكْلَةُ وَالأَكْلَتَانِ ، وَلَكِنَّ الْمِسْكِينَ الَّذِي لَيْسَ لَهُ مَا يَسْتَغْنِي بِهِ ، وَلا يُعْلَمُ بِحَاجَتِهِ ، فَيُتَصَدَّقُ عَلَيْهِ ، فَذَلِكَ الْمَحْرُومُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The poor person is not the one who goes away with one or two dates or with one or two morsels. The poor person is the one who does not possess that which suffices his needs, and his needy state is not known so that charity may be given to him." By "deprived" is meant this person (who is mentioned in the Qur'an).
