Hadith 3303

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحِيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ السَّكَنِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَهْضَمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " فَرَضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ زَكَاةَ الْفِطْرِ صَاعًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ ، أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ شَعِيرٍ ، عَلَى الْحَرِّ وَالْعَبْدِ ، وَالذَّكَرِ وَالأُنْثَى مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ، وَأَمَرَ بِهَا أَنْ تُؤَدَّى قَبْلَ خُرُوجِ النَّاسِ إِلَى الصَّلاةِ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) made it obligatory to give one sa’ of dates or one sa’ of barley as Zakat al-Fitr on every free and slave, male and female Muslim. He (peace be upon him) ordered that it should be given before the people go out for the Eid prayer.
