Hadith 3244

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفِيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنِ الْعَلاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَقُولُ الْعَبْدُ مَالِي ، وَإِنَّمَا لَهُ مِنْ مَالِهِ ثَلاثَةٌ : مَا أَكَلَ فَأَفْنَى ، أَوْ مَا أَعْطَى فَأَبْقَى ، أَوْ لَبِسَ فَأَبْلَى ، وَمَا سِوَى ذَلِكَ ، فَهُوَ ذَاهِبٌ وَتَارِكُهُ لِلنَّاسِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A servant says, 'This is my wealth,' whereas from his wealth he gets only three things: that which he eats and consumes, that which he gives (in the way of Allah) and thus preserves, and that which he wears and wears out. Other than these, whatever else there is will depart, and he will leave it behind for the people."
