Hadith 3240

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفِيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَرُوَانَ ، عَنْ هُزَيْلِ بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ سَائِلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَإِذَا تَمْرَةٌ عَائِرَةٌ ، فَأَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهَا ، وَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " خُذْهَا ، لَوْ لَمْ تَأْتِهَا لأَتَتْكَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: A beggar came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). There was a date lying there; the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) gave it to him. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Take it, if you had not come to it, it would have come to you.
