Hadith 3227

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ سَلْمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الُوَلِيدُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي يَحِيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ هِلالِ بْنِ أَبِي مَيْمُونَةَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ مِمَّا أَتَخَوَّفُ عَلَيْكُمْ مَا يُفْتَحُ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ زُهْرَةِ الدُّنِيَا وَزِينَتِهَا " ، فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَيَأْتِي الْخَيْرُ بِالشَّرِّ ؟ قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ : فَرَأَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْزِلُ عَلَيْهِ ، فَلُمْنَا الرَّجُلَ حِينَ يُكَلِّمُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلا يُكَلِّمُهُ ، فَلَمَّا جُلِّيَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، جَعَلَ يَمْسَحُ الرُّحَضَاءَ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : " أَيْنَ السَّائِلُ ؟ " ، فَكَأَنَّهُ قَدْ حَمِدَهُ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ الْخَيْرَ لا يَأْتِي بِالشَّرِّ ، وَإِنَّ مِمَّا يُنْبِتُ الرَّبِيعُ مَا يَقْتُلُ حَبَطًا ، أَوْ يُلِمُّ إِلا آكِلَةَ الْخَضِرِ أَكَلَتْ حَتَّى إِذَا هِيَ امْتَلأَتْ خَاصِرَتَاهَا ، اسْتَقْبَلَتْ عَيْنَ الشَّمْسِ ، فَثَلَطَتْ وَبَالَتْ ، وَإِنَّ هَذَا الْمَالَ نِعْمَ صَاحِبُ الْمُسْلِمِ لِمَنْ أَخَذَهُ بِحَقِّهِ ، فَأَعْطَى مِنْهُ الِيَتِيمَ وَالْمِسْكِينَ وَالسَّائِلَ ، وَمَنْ أَخَذَهُ بِغَيْرِ حَقِّهِ ، كَانَ كَالَّذِي يَأْكُلُ وَلا يَشْبَعُ ، ثُمَّ يَكُونُ عَلَيْهِ شَهِيدًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed the people in a sermon and said: "What I fear most for you is that the glitter and adornment of the world will be opened up before you." Then a man stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Will good bring evil?" Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We saw that revelation began to descend upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), so we reproached that man for having made this request to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not answer him. When this state of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ended, he wiped the sweat from his face and said: "Where is the questioner?" It was as if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) praised that man. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, good does not bring evil, but what grows in the spring sometimes kills or brings destruction to some. However, the case of the animal that eats greenery is different: it eats until its belly is full, then it goes out into the sun, excretes dung and urine. Thus, wealth is the best companion for a Muslim, but for the one who acquires it rightfully and gives from it to the orphan, the needy, and the beggar. And the one who acquires it wrongfully is like a person who eats but is never satisfied, and this (wealth) will be a witness against him on the Day of Resurrection."
