Hadith 3212

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفِيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الُوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي وَجَعِهِ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ : " يَا عَائِشَةُ ، مَا فَعَلْتِ الذَّهَبُ ؟ " ، قَالَتْ : قُلْتُ : هِيَ عِنْدِي ، قَالَ : " فَأْتِينِي بِهَا " ، وَهِيَ بَيْنَ السَّبْعَةِ وَالْخَمْسَةِ ، فَجِئْتُ ، فَوَضَعْتُهَا فِي كَفِّهِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " مَا ظَنُّ مُحَمَّدٍ بِاللَّهِ لَوْ لَقِيَ اللَّهَ وَهَذِهِ عِنْدَهُ ، أَنْفِقِيهَا " .
Sayyidah Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: During the illness in which the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, he said: O Aisha! What happened to that gold? Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I replied, It is with me. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Bring it to me. It was seven or five (uqiyah). I brought it and placed it in the palm of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he said: What would Muhammad think of Allah if he were to meet Allah in such a state that this (gold) is with him? You should spend it.
