Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) would gather two men from the martyrs of Uhud in one cloth and would ask, "Which of them knew more Qur'an?" When one of them was pointed out, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would place him ahead in the grave. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will be a witness over all these people on the Day of Resurrection." The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) buried them with their blood; he did not perform their funeral prayer, nor were they given a ritual bath.
