أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ مَوْهَبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْمُفَضَّلُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ سَيْفٍ الْمَعَافِرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : قَبَرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغْنَا ، انْصَرَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَانْصَرَفْنَا مَعَهُ ، فَلَمَّا حَاذَى بَابَهُ ، وَتَوَسَّطَ الطَّرِيقَ ، إِذَا نَحْنُ بِامْرَأَةٍ مُقْبِلَةٍ ، فَلَمَّا دَنَتْ إِذَا هِيَ فَاطِمَةُ ، فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا أَخْرَجَكِ يَا فَاطِمَةُ مِنْ بَيْتِكِ ؟ " قَالَتْ : أَتَيْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَهْلَ هَذَا الْبَيْتِ ، فَعَزَّيْنَا مَيِّتَهُمْ ، فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَعَلَّكِ بَلَغْتِ مَعَهُمُ الْكُدَى ؟ " قَالَتْ : مُعَاذَ اللَّهِ ، وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُكَ تَذْكُرُ فِيهَا مَا تَذْكُرُ قَالَ : " لَوْ بَلَغْتِ مَعَهُمُ الْكُدَى مَا رَأَيْتِ الْجَنَّةَ حَتَّى يَرَاهَا جَدُّكَ أَبُو أَبِيكِ " ، فَسَأَلْتُ رَبِيعَةَ عَنِ الْكُدَى ، فَقَالَ : " الْقُبُورُ " ، قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : قَوْلُهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِفَاطِمَةَ : " لَوْ بَلَغْتِ مَعَهُمُ الْكُدَى مَا رَأَيْتِ الْجَنَّةَ " يُرِيدُ مَا رَأَيْتِ الْجَنَّةَ الْعَالِيَةَ الَّتِي يَدْخُلُهَا مَنْ لَمْ يَرْتَكِبْ مَا نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْهُ ، لأَنَّ فَاطِمَةَ عَلِمَتِ النَّهْيَ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ ، وَالْجَنَّةُ هِيَ جَنَّاتٌ كَثِيرَةٌ لا جُنَّةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ ، وَالْمُشْرِكُ لا يَدْخُلُ جَنَّةً مِنَ الْجِنَّانِ أَصْلا لا عَالِيَةً وَلا سَافِلَةً وَلا مَا بَيْنَهُمَا .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once, we buried someone in the company of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). When we finished, the Prophet (peace be upon him) set out to return, and we also returned with him. When we reached the middle of the road, a woman was coming from the front. When she came near, it was Lady Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her). The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked her: "O Fatimah! Why have you come out of your house?" She replied: "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! I had gone to the house of those people to offer my condolences for their deceased." The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked her: "Perhaps you also went with the people to Kuda (the graveyard)?" She replied: "I seek refuge with Allah! I have heard you (peace be upon him) instruct about this (so how could I go there)?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "If you had gone with them to Kuda, you would not have seen Paradise until your grandfather—that is, your father's father—saw it." The narrator says: I asked my teacher: "What is meant by Kuda?" He replied: "The graveyard." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:): The Prophet's (peace be upon him) statement to Lady Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) that "If you had gone with them to Kuda, you would not have seen Paradise," means: You would not have seen that high rank of Paradise where those people enter who have not committed anything from which the Prophet (peace be upon him) has prohibited. The reason is: Lady Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) was already aware of the Prophet's (peace be upon him) prohibition regarding this, and Paradise has many ranks, not just one. And a polytheist will not enter Paradise at all—neither the highest rank of Paradise, nor the lowest, nor the middle.
