Hadith 3173

أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاشِعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا خَرَجُوا إِلَى الْمَقَابِرِ يُعَلِّمُهُمْ أَنْ يَقُولُوا : " السَّلامُ عَلَى أَهْلِ الدَّارِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُسْلِمِينَ ، وَإِنَّا إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ بِكُمْ لَلاحِقُونَ ، أَنْتُمْ لَنَا فَرَطٌ ، وَنَحْنُ لَكُمْ تَبَعٌ ، نَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ لَنَا وَلَكُمُ الْعَافِيَةَ " .
Sulaiman bin Buraidah narrates from his father: Whenever the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would visit the graveyard, he would teach the people to say this: "Peace be upon the inhabitants of the dwellings, the believers and the Muslims. If Allah wills, we shall join you. You have preceded us and we shall follow you. We ask Allah for well-being for ourselves and for you."
