الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَلادٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا
يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ
عَوْفٍ ، عَنِ
الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ
عُتَيٍّ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ
أُبَيًّا رَأَى رَجُلا تَعَزَّى بِعَزَاءِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ، فَأَعَضَّهُ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : قَدْ أَرَى فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ ، أَوْ فِي نَفْسِكَ ، إِنِّي لَمْ أَسْتَطِعْ إِذَا سَمِعْتُهَا أَنْ لا أَقُولَهَا ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " مَنْ تَعَزَّى بِعَزَاءِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَأَعِضُّوهُ وَلا تَكْنُوا " .
Ati reports: I saw Sayyiduna Abi (may Allah be pleased with him) hear a man shouting in the manner of the days of ignorance, so he stopped him harshly, although he would not usually do so. Then he said: I think you are confused about this matter, but when I heard him, I could not refrain from saying this, because I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Whoever shouts in the manner of the days of ignorance, then you must stop him harshly and do not stop him merely by gesture."
