أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاشِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ لَمَّا مَاتَ رَافِعُ بْنُ خَدِيجٍ قَالَ لَهُمْ لا تَبْكُوا ، فَإِنَّ بُكَاءَ الْحَيِّ عَذَابٌ لِلْمَيِّتِ ، قَالَتْ عَمْرَةُ : فَسَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ ، فَقَالَتْ : يَرْحَمُهُ اللَّهُ ، إِنَّمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِيَهُودِيَّةٍ وَأَهْلُهَا يَبْكُونَ عَلَيْهَا : " إِنَّهُمْ لَيَبْكُونَ ، وَإِنَّهَا لَتُعَذَّبُ فِي قَبْرِهَا " .
Abdullah bin Abu Bakr narrates from his father: When Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said to his family: Do not weep, for the deceased is punished because of the weeping of the living. A woman named Umrah narrates: I asked Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about this, and she said: May Allah have mercy on them (i.e., Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said this regarding a Jewish woman and her family who were weeping over her: "These people are weeping, and this woman is being punished in her grave."
