Hadith 3123

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ بِنْتِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ عَائِشَةَ ، وَذُكِرَ لَهَا أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ ، يَقُولُ : إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ لَيُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ الْحَيِّ ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : يَغْفِرُ اللَّهُ لأَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَمَا إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَكْذِبْ وَلَكِنَّهُ نَسِيَ أَوْ أَخْطَأَ ، إِنَّمَا مَرَّ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى يَهُودِيَّةٍ يُبْكَى عَلَيْهَا ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّهُمْ يَبْكُونَ عَلَيْهَا وَإِنَّهَا لَتُعَذَّبُ فِي قَبْرِهَا " .
Umrah bint Abdur Rahman narrates: She heard Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) when it was mentioned before her that Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The deceased is punished because of the weeping of the living person. So Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: May Allah forgive Abu Abdur Rahman (that is, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both), he did not lie, but he forgot or made a mistake. Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a Jewish woman over whom people were weeping, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: These people are weeping over this woman, and she is being punished in her grave.
