Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him: The grave of a believer is a lush garden; his grave is expanded for him up to seventy cubits, and his grave is illuminated for him just like the full moon on the fourteenth night. Do you know about whom this verse was revealed: "Indeed, for him there will be a constricted life, and We will raise him on the Day of Resurrection blind." Do you know what is meant by the constricted life? The people said: Allah and His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, know best. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: It refers to the punishment given to the disbeliever in the grave. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, ninety-nine serpents will be imposed upon him. Do you know what one of those serpents will be? It will be as large as seventy snakes, each snake having seven heads, with which they will bite and tear him, and this will continue until the Day of Resurrection.
