Hadith 3115

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عِيسَى الْمِصْرِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي حُيَيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمَعَافِرِيُّ ، أَنَّ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيَّ ، حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ذَكَرَ فَتَّانَيِ الْقَبْرِ ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ : أَتُرَدُّ عَلَيْنَا عُقُولُنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ فَقَالَ : " نَعَمْ ، كَهَيْئَتِكُمُ الْيَوْمَ " ، قَالَ : فَبِفِيهِ الْحَجَرُ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the trial of the grave, so Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Will our intellects be returned to us? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes, just as you are today. So he said: There is a restriction on his mouth.
