Hadith 3109

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ قَحْطَبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الصِّدِّيقِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا وَضَعَ الْمَيِّتَ فِي الْقَبْرِ قَالَ : " بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَعَلَى مِلَّةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: It was the practice of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) that when the deceased was placed in the grave, he (peace be upon him) would recite: "In the name of Allah, with blessings from Allah, and upon the religion of Allah's Messenger (we commit him to the earth)."
