Hadith 3078

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ شَهِدَ الْجَنَازَةَ حَتَّى يُصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا فَلَهُ قِيرَاطٌ ، وَمَنْ شَهِدَهَا حَتَّى تُدْفَنَ فَلَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ " قِيلَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَمَا الْقِيرَاطَانِ ؟ قَالَ : " مِثْلُ جَبَلَيْنِ عَظِيمَيْنِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him: "Whoever participates in a funeral until the funeral prayer is offered, that person receives one qirat of reward, and whoever remains with it until it is buried receives two qirats of reward." It was asked: O Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him! How much are two qirats? The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, replied: "As great as two huge mountains."
