أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْبَلْخِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ أَبِي مُزَاحِمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : شَهِدْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، صَلَّى عَلَى جَنَازَةٍ فَقَرَأَ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ ، قُلْتُ لَهُ : أَتَقْرَأُ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي ، سُنَّةٌ وَحَقٌّ " .
Talha bin Abdullah narrates: I was present with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) when he recited Surah Al-Fatihah while performing a funeral prayer. When he finished the prayer, I asked him: Did you recite Surah Al-Fatihah? He replied: Yes! O my nephew! This is Sunnah and the truth.
