Hadith 3048

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ الْكَلاعِيُّ بِحِمْصَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ كَانَ يَمْشِي بَيْنَ يَدَيِ الْجَنَازَةِ ، قَالَ : " وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَمْشِي بَيْنَ يَدَيْهَا ، وَأَبَا بَكْرٍ ، وَعُمَرَ ، وَعُثْمَانَ " ، قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ : وَكَذَلِكَ السُّنَّةُ .
Salim bin Abdullah narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to walk in front of the funeral procession and used to mention this: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) also used to walk in front of the funeral procession. Zuhri narrates: This is also the Sunnah.
