Sayyiduna Abu Tha’labah Khushani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man came and sat near the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and he was wearing a gold ring. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) struck his hand with a twig that was in his blessed hand (indicating for him to remove the ring). When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned his attention away from that man, he removed his ring. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked towards him and asked: “Where is your ring?” He replied: “I have removed it.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “I think we have caused you hardship, we have caused you harm.”
Imam Ibn Hibban (may Allah have mercy on him) says: The narrator named Nu’man bin Rashid sometimes makes mistakes when narrating hadith from Zuhri.
