أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْهَرَوِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عُلَيَّةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَبَى عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : قَدِمَ الطُّفَيْلُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الدَّوْسِيُّ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَكَّةَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، هَلُمَّ إِلَى حِصْنٍ وَعَدَدٍ وَعِدَّةٍ ، قَالَ أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ : حِصْنٌ فِي رَأْسِ الْجَبَلِ لا يُؤْتَى إِلا فِي مِثْلِ الشِّرَاكِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَمَعَكَ مَنْ وَرَاءَكَ ؟ " قَالَ : لا أَدْرِي ، فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ ، فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ ، قَدِمَ الطُّفَيْلُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو مُهَاجِرًا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَمَعَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ رَهْطِهِ ، فَحُمَّ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلُ حِمَّى شَدِيدَةً ، فَجَزِعَ ، فَأَخَذَ شَفْرَةً ، فَقَطَعَ بِهَا رَوَاجِبَهُ فَتَشَخَّبَتْ حَتَّى مَاتَ ، فَدُفِنَ ، ثُمَّ إِنَّهُ جَاءَ فِيمَا يَرَى النَّائِمُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ إِلَى الطُّفَيْلِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو فِي شَارَةٍ حَسَنَةٍ وَهُوَ مُخَمِّرٌ يَدَهُ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ الطُّفَيْلُ : أَفُلانٌ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : كَيْفَ فَعَلْتَ ؟ قَالَ : صَنَعَ بِي رَبِّي خَيْرًا ، غَفَرَ لِي بِهِجْرَتِي إِلَى نَبِيِّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : فَمَا فَعَلَتْ يَدَاكَ ؟ قَالَ : قَالَ لِي رَبِّي : لَنْ نُصْلِحَ مِنْكَ مَا أَفْسَدْتَ مِنْ نَفْسِكَ ، قَالَ : فَقَصَّ الطُّفَيْلُ رُؤْيَاهُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلم ، فَرَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَيْهِ : " اللَّهُمَّ وَلِيَدَيْهِ فَاغْفِرْ ، اللَّهُمَّ وَلِيَدَيْهِ فَاغْفِرْ ، اللَّهُمَّ وَلِيَدَيْهِ فَاغْفِرْ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Tufail bin Amr Dausi (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in Makkah Mukarramah. He submitted: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! Please come to that place where there is a fortress, a large number of people, and various (types of equipment). Here, the narrator named Abu Zubair has mentioned that the fortress was on the top of a mountain, which was extremely difficult to reach. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked him: Are the people behind you with you? He replied: I do not know. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned away from him. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) migrated to Madinah Munawwarah, Sayyiduna Tufail bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) also migrated and came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). With him was a man from his tribe. That man suffered from severe fever and began to weep and wail. He took a knife and cut his vein with it, and his blood began to flow until he died. He was buried. Then, at night, a person came to Sayyiduna Tufail bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) in a dream, who was in a very excellent appearance and had covered his hand. Tufail asked him: Are you so-and-so? He replied: Yes. Sayyiduna Tufail (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: How are you? He said: My Lord has treated me excellently and has forgiven me because of my migration to His Prophet. Sayyiduna Tufail (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: What happened to your hand? He replied: My Lord said to me: We will never fix what you yourself have ruined. The narrator says: Sayyiduna Tufail (may Allah be pleased with him) related this dream to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) raised both his hands (and supplicated): “O Allah! Forgive both his hands as well. O Allah! Forgive both his hands as well. O Allah! Forgive his both hands as well.”
