Hadith 3015

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لا يَتَمَنَّى أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَوْتَ وَلا يَدْعُو بِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَأْتِيَهُ ، إِنَّهُ إِذَا مَاتَ انْقَطَعَ عَمَلُهُ ، وَإِنَّهُ لا يَزِيدُ الْمُؤْمِنَ عُمُرُهُ إِلا خَيْرًا " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him: "No person should wish for death, nor should he pray for it before it comes, because when he passes away, his deeds will be cut off, and the life of a believer only increases him in goodness."
