Hadith 3009

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ سُرَيْجٍ النَّقَّالُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنِ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ أَحَبَّ لِقَاءَ اللَّهِ ، أَحَبَّ اللَّهُ لِقَاءَهُ ، وَمَنْ كَرِهَ لِقَاءَ اللَّهِ ، كَرِهَ اللَّهُ لِقَاءَهُ " ، فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : إِنَّا نَكْرَهُ الْمَوْتَ ، فَذَاكَ كَرَاهِيَتُنَا لِقَاءَ اللَّهِ ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لا ، وَلَكِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ إِذَا حُضِرَ فَبُشِّرَ بِمَا أَمَامَهُ أَحَبَّ لِقَاءَ اللَّهِ ، وَأَحَبَّ اللَّهُ لِقَاءَهُ ، وَإِنَّ الْكَافِرَ إِذَا حُضِرَ ، فَبُشِّرَ بِمَا أَمَامَهُ كَرِهَ لِقَاءَ اللَّهِ ، وَكَرِهَ اللَّهُ لِقَاءَهُ " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from Sayyiduna Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever likes to meet Allah, Allah also likes to meet him; and whoever dislikes to meet Allah, Allah also dislikes to meet him." So Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "We do not like death, so does this mean that we do not like to meet Allah?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "No! When the believer's final moment approaches, he is given glad tidings about what is to come (of blessings), so he likes to meet Allah, and Allah also likes to meet him. And when the disbeliever's final moment approaches, he is informed about what is to come (of punishment, etc.), so he dislikes to meet Allah, and Allah also dislikes to meet him."
