أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الذُّهْلِيُّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ السَّهْمِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعُ بْنُ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ الثَّقَفِيِّ ، أَنَّهُ شَكَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَجَعًا يَجِدُهُ مُنْذُ أَسْلَمَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ضَعْ يَدَكَ عَلَى الَّذِي تَأْلَمَ مِنْ جَسَدِكَ ، وَقُلْ : بِسْمِ اللَّهِ ثَلاثًا ، وَقُلْ : أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ ، سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ " .
Nafi' bin Jubair narrates about Sayyiduna 'Uthman bin Abu al-'As Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him): He complained to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) about a pain (i.e., illness) that had afflicted him after accepting Islam. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to him: "Place your hand on the spot where you feel pain in your body and recite 'Bismillah' three times, and then say: 'I seek refuge in Allah and His power from the evil of what I find and what I fear.' Recite this seven times."
