Hadith 294

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيَمَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، وَعَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَيْسَ أَحَدٌ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ الْمَدْحُ مِنَ اللَّهِ ، فَلِذَلِكَ مَدَحَ نَفْسَهُ ، وَلَيْسَ أَحَدٌ أَغْيَرَ مِنَ اللَّهِ ، فَلِذَلِكَ حَرَّمَ الْفَوَاحِشَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Allah Almighty loves praise for Himself the most. That is why He has praised Himself, and no one is more possessive than Allah Almighty. That is why He has declared indecent acts unlawful."
