Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Umm Sa’ib (the narrator is unsure, perhaps these are the words) or Umm Musayyib came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and she was shivering. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) asked: O Umm Sa’ib (the narrator is unsure, perhaps these are the words) or O Umm Musayyib, what has happened to you, why are you shivering? She replied: It is fever—may Allah not bless it. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Do not speak ill of fever, for it removes a person’s sins just as a furnace removes the impurities of iron.
