Hadith 2927

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَعْشَرٍ بِحَرَّانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ وَهْبِ بْنِ أَبِي كَرِيمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَا يَمْرَضُ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلا مُؤْمِنَةٌ ، وَلا مُسْلِمٌ وَلا مَسْلَمَةٌ إِلا حَطَّ اللَّهُ بِذَلِكَ خَطَايَاهُ كَمَا تَنْحَطُّ الْوَرَقَةُ عَنِ الشَّجَرَةِ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whenever a believing man or woman falls ill, or (the narrator is in doubt or perhaps these are the words) a Muslim man or woman falls ill, Allah Almighty, because of that, wipes away their sins just as a tree sheds its leaves."
