Hadith 2923

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلْمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، أَنَّ بَكْرَ بْنَ سَوَادَةَ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ يَزِيدَ بْنَ أَبِي يَزِيدَ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّ رَجُلا تَلا هَذِهِ الآيَةَ : مَنْ يَعْمَلْ سُوءًا يُجْزَ بِهِ سورة النساء آية 123 ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّا لَنُجْزَى بِكُلِّ مَا عَلِمْنَا ، هَلَكْنَا إِذَا ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ : " نَعَمْ ، يُجْزَى بِهِ فِي الدُّنْيَا مِنْ مُصِيبَةٍ فِي جَسَدِهِ مِمَّا يُؤْذِيهِ " .
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: A man recited this verse: "Whoever does evil will be recompensed for it." The man said: Will we be recompensed for everything we do? In that case, we will be doomed. This was reported to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), so he said: Yes! A person will be recompensed for it in the form of trials in this world—those trials which afflict his body and cause him pain.
