Hadith 2922

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ الْبَرَاءُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شَدَّادُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْوَازِعِ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ الْمُغَفَّلِ ، يَقُولُ : أَتَى رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ : وَاللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي لأُحِبُّكَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ الْبَلايَا أَسْرَعُ إِلَى مَنْ يُحِبُّنِي مِنَ السَّيْلِ إِلَى مُنْتَهَاهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! By Allah, I love you. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to him: Trials come to the one who loves me faster than floodwaters rush towards their destination.
