أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ كَالزَّرْعِ لا تَزَالُ الرِّيحُ تُفِيئُهُ ، وَلا يَزَالُ الْمُؤْمِنُ يُصِيبُهُ الْبَلاءُ ، وَمَثَلُ الْمُنَافِقِ كَالشَّجَرَةِ الأَرْزِ لا تَهْتَزُّ حَتَّى تُسْتَحْصَدَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "The example of a believer is like that of a crop field, which the wind keeps bending in different directions; similarly, a believer is always subjected to trials. And the example of a hypocrite is like that of a walnut tree, which does not sway, until (all at once) it is uprooted."
