Sayyiduna Khabbab bin Al-Aratt (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We presented ourselves before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). At that time, he was sitting in the shade of the Ka'bah, reclining on a sheet. We were facing hardships from the polytheists. I submitted, "Will you not supplicate to Allah for us?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sat up straight in a state of anger. His face turned red. He said: "Those before you were asked to utter the word (of faith), and if they did not comply, a saw was placed upon them and they were cut into two pieces, but this did not turn them away from their religion. Sometimes, an iron comb was passed through the flesh and nerves of a person until it reached his bones, but even this did not turn them away from their religion. However, you people are showing impatience. Allah will surely complete this matter until a rider will travel from Sana'a to Hadramaut and will fear none except Allah, or the wolf regarding his sheep."
